Yaesu's digital mode. http://www.yaesu.co.uk/product_info.php ... ts_id=1245 Digital Communication Technology The FT1D usesC4FM FDMA (C4FM - 4-level FSK Modulation, FDMA - Frequency Division Multiple Access), which has been developed for the professional LMR communications. It uses this enhanced technology for a lower BER (bit error rate), resulting in stable communications without interruptions during mobile operations, even in a rapidly moving vehicle. Digital and Analog Modes It is possible to switch between Digital and Analog communications by pressing one button on the radio. When the digital communications are interrupted due to a weak signal, you can switch to the Analog mode and stay connected to the station you were communicating with. |

Anyone get one of these yet? http://universal-radio.com/catalog/ht/0111.html Here’s a video of the digital voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clENz_e9hdo It sounds on par with P25 (well not quite but close) – but better than MotoTRBO! |

True, I don't have any practical TRBO experience... I was just going by what I've heard from youtube videos. I agree there's a lot more variables to test... i.e. I won't pay $520 for that radio. ;) It'll come down in price by x-mas. |
