anyone using rg-6. I've got to replace a string of 12 year old rg-8.
was thinking about trying rg-6 for a 2 meter in the house.

I looked up some spec's on that coax, and it appears to be 75 ohm impedance. Just about all of the VHF/UHF radios I know have 50 ohm impedance. The coax you use should match your radio.

Stick with RG-8 (if the run isn't too long), or perhaps 9913 or some other low-loss 50 ohm coax.

I hav'nt bought coax in so long, I was going to make about a 25 foot lead, but wanted to use a 'skinny' coax to fit thru the wall easier. I understand about the resistance. Hey, was'nt that a test question somewhere?

Probably was. My test was a long time ago, so I don't remember....

If you're just doing a 25 foot run, then RG-58 would probably be ok for a 2m only setup. I wouldn't want to go much longer than that with 58, though..
