I've looked all over. Can't find the simple male & female T-connects. The kind that come with Icom, Yaesu and such. Are they called something different? :?: |

No he means power connectors. Radio Shack use to carry them but I doubt they do any longer. This is where I get my stuff: http://www.powerwerx.com/oem-connectors/ Vetco is probably your best bet. Off of Northup Way in Bellevue just east of Lowes. They're right next door to Gold's Gym. That's them! Thanks. I'm going to swap out a V-8000 with a FT-7900 detachable face so I can see the trailer brake control thing. I'll post a pic when complete. |

Heh, I just got a 7900 myself -- for my base radio. Since my 7000 is now mobile FT, I wanted something inside. I was previously just using my V8000 but I wanted more memory channels and the wideband Rx. |

I may get another. It came with the separation kit free and + $35 for the factory 'open' deal. Full range TX/RX VHF/UHF out of the box. Split tones too. |

Nice, yeah I bought the cable from EBay and there's a reall good 3rd party package for like $15. Even though the 0 Ohm resistor (jumper) was extremely small it was very easy to "mod" -- much easier than I expected. :) Yep so far it's been very good. Now I just got to program it..! |

If there wasn't such a distance- I'd share. I ordered RT+cable for the FT270 to replace the VX170 that's now part of the Moyie River river bottom. In other words, I bought the FT270 2M HT, Diamond Flex, & speaker mic plus the software. I don't have the software yet, but was able to make an Ht to an Ht simplex contact nine mile away. Both with the hi-gain Diamonds. The 7900 + RT software work great, almost commercial class except more buttons. -Jay kc7bur |

Jay, truth be told, I'm not much a Yaesu fan. I only bought the FT7900R because the Wouxun mobile is not out yet -- and may never -- per the latest rumors. In retrospect, I should have picked up the V71A Kenwood -- but at the time, it was hard to justify the extra cost. Thankfully, the 7900R seems to be pretty good. For once, there's nothing extra I need to buy and the audio quality is actually decent. I've owned the VX1R, FT-90R, 817ND, 857D, VX170R, VX270R and now the 7900R. I loved the VX170R. It was a solid radio and I sold it to a buddy who needed a portable. I bought the 270R to replace it but the stupid waterproofing they put over the microphone hole really killed the modulation level. It's fairly easy to modify but even after that, the audio wasn't nearly as good as the VX170R. I still consider Yaesu on the last-to-look-at list. Sadly, Icom seems married to d-star and thus they can't sell a product for less than $500. Here's hoping Kenwood can make a comeback. I love the TM-281A mobile. |

I think the membrane over the mic issue has been addressed. No complaints. Yet. If I could find a BK that could go down into two-meter and do NB, I'd stick with that platform. |
