I was up on Mt Pilchuck last week camping and noticed the 146.92 repeater site has been removed. Also a new gate has gone in at mp 4.5, so if you want to go farther it's locked now. At least the lower gate at the Heather Lk TH should stay open.

Anyone know if the .92 repeater is still active? I don't have a 2 mtr rig hooked up now and haven't heard anything on my scanner in awhile. Not that I listen to 2 mtr that often anymore. It's a dead zone for sure.

The 146.920 repeater is still active and up on the air. The Snohomish County ACS group uses it. The repeater got moved to the SERS tower in Granite Falls.

How times change. Last I remember it was in Dwayne's back yard on Cavalero Hill. But that was about 30 years ago...

Actually the Home behind the one in the picture is where the Repeater used to be. It used to be the 146.91 before it went to Philchuck. The house in the link is where Dwayne has his two way bussiness called Lew's Two way.

Here's an update on the Mt. Pilchuck Rd. Road is gated at the lower gate for the Winter-Spring. Around Jan 1st some 4x4 morons destroyed the new gate, so the Forest Service locked and dumped a large pile of rocks at both gates. Don't expect the road to be reopened till the snow melts off April-June. Thanks a lot a-holes!...... :x :x

ICSO (actually NWLERN) also relocated their 453.675 repeater from Pilchuck and placed it at Granite about a year ago.

Interesting. It doesn't seem to have the coverage it used to. It was always one of the "reliable access" repeaters for me in the Puget Sound area and especially around my home QTH of Port Townsend.

Times change!

Hi,
Is the Pilchuck repeater going to come back?
That repeater was great for some back country walking.
Now I can't even get it to break squelch.
Is it gone for good?

Based on the information already provided on this thread:

The repeater is still on the air;
It was moved to a SERS (Snohomish County Emergency Radio System) site near Granite Falls;
The "old" Pilchuck site no longer exists - it was removed, completely, and all users relocated to other sites.

Additionally - the new site actually provides better coverage in Snohomish County proper (it's intended service area), and up into the mountains - mainly because it's not up against Mt. Pilchuck. For the owners/users, it supports their emergency services mission a little better.

Brad.

Is this now a closed repeater? For SERS only.
I can't get it to respond and am just wondering why.
My ctcss and offset are the same as what is listed in the repeater book info.

Not sure what repeater book info you are using. ARRL?

As far as I know, it is not a closed repeater. If there is some kind of Emergency Services activation for an event, I suspect they would like the non-mission traffic to be curtailed. Other may know better than I on their practice.

The PL appears to be 123.0, in and out.

Brad.

Yes Brad I am using the arrl book and I have used my tmv-71a at different power levels with the 123.0
tone, which used to work and all I get is a brief
opening of the repeater and no tail indicating that I got into the repeater.

I 'm confused...Also I went up to Granite Falls and received the same response.

Chris

It's working fine. Just keyed up and it responded back. And someone was using it a little while ago.
