Anyone have this antenna? I've read the EHAM reviews and they're decent. I'm just curious if anyone has tried it around here.

One interesting comment from a user was that it might be "too good" for areas with a lot of repeaters nearby that use the same frequencies. I don't think that'll be a problem around here with our mountainous terrain.

thats what they make tone's on repeaters for*... the antenna will be fine. whatever I have on the roof has dbi of 11-14 or something like that, I have never had issues with it being "too good" sort of stilly, if it bothers you just use crappy coax then you will be just fine HA!

*as for the overload issue on repeaters, its a omni not a yagi and still you cant point at two repeater sites and knock out other repeaters or users, and this is a simplex hobby so even users on the same repeater.. if this antenna is too good.. well then you will just win any double war on the repeater!

Spud, I think he was referring to the output frequency not the input. :)
I'm not worried about it -- especially around here.

yea that is the overload comment I made, but seriously you cant overload two repeaters unless they are so close to each other its stupid.

but the tone comment applies to the output as well (at least all the repeaters I play on code the output)

Well I'll have one up by Tuesday. Let you know how it works.
It'll be a temp setup until I can get it up on the roof. That'll give me another 8-10ft of height. 8)

Spud I got the x510 up this afternoon. It works great. SWR is 1.0 @ 146.0 at 49 ohms. There's about a 5 mhz bw from 143-149 Mhz and the SWR is < 2.0... I don't have a way to test SWR around 446 but it seeems fine.

Hearing quite a bit more traffic than with my RS discone. ;)

nice! I have the UHF capable MFJ tester if your interested and work in Bellevue PM if you wanna check that out some day.

Spud, after I read your message tonight I came home to check out my FT-857D. I forgot it has a SWR meter that works on all bands. (The Icom 7000 only works on HF.) My UHF is reading 1.2 at 449.0 Mhz. It actually seems a bit broader than the 2m portion. It was under 2.0 from 435-450...

BTW, here's a picture: (It's hard to see at this angle but the base of the antenna starts right at the roof line.)
