So I have a new VHF P25 rig to install.. Are there any repeaters in the Bellevue area?

Id actually love to install one on Buck Mt. I need a frequency. If there are any others Id love to know about them also...

Lets just say today was a good day. A vhf, a uhf and a 700/800 XTL 5000 showed up today at work.

Thats how I got my Astro Spectra... My favorite radio in my truck now... Showed up at work with no place to go... Still in the box. :mrgreen:


There is a p25 uhf machine north of Seattle... and plans for another UHF I know of but VHF is lacking...

Anyone know of a VHF pair Id have it up in record time but VHF freqs are still in hot demand and pairs are just not to be easily found.

Unfortunately the UHF band split is 450-520. I have never seen/programmed anything but 800 radios, I don't know if it will go into the ham bands

I always forget about the lack of ham coverage in Motorola UHF P25 radios... I need to review them all again.

Ive never considered those due to how many of them were on the air last time I looked quite a while back... Ill give a listen.

Yeah I've been hearing 145.29 lately with a white noise. Not sure if that's P25 or not.

There are a couple of D-Star repeaters on 145.290 in Seattle area. I think there's at least one D-Star on 145.130 (Bellevue). If they're linked to a reflector, they can become pretty noisy.

If the radio is an XTL 5000 there is a good chance that it will work down to 440MHz both in analog, and digital (assuming it is flashed for digi) but will need to edit your CPS. You will need a hex editor to change the values. Here is a link on how to edit the Patpoort.EXE file.

The XTL's are better about out of band operation versus the older Astro Spectra. I have XTL 's on VHF, UHF, and 900MHz and aside from some firmware bugs from time to time (I just wait a week or two to upgrade after a new release, if there are bugs you will hear about them) the work great.

What version of cps should I use? Does 14 or 15 work, or should I choose an earlier version?
