Good evening,

A friend just loaned me a Kenwood TM-241M mobile radio. What I would like to do is connect it to a car battery and use it in the house to be moderator on a local net. It would give me 50 watts output vs. the 5 watts I have with my HT. The radio has a power connection that is about a foot long with a plug on the end. My presumption is that originally there was another cord that when connected to this that would run to a power source in the vehicle. Of course, the obvious best method would be to have the corresponding plug and cable to run to the battery. I don't know if this type plug is still available. Would anyone have suggestions as to the best way to connect the radio to an auto battery? Also, can anyone recommend a local source that might have a variety of plugs/connectors available?

The best solution would be to buy a power supply. Unfortunately, that just isn't in the cards right now.

I've seen 2 styles of connectors in wide spread use.

A 2 pin molex type with round pins, and a 2 pin, similar to molex, but best describes as a "T" stle using 2 flat pins.

The latter may be found on ebay all day long.
