Made my first contact via ISS's repeater last night. THey make an number of passes over us on their swing around the earth.
145.8 out and 437.8 in. Don't forget the doppler effect (I don't know the effect, but it sure sounded good - right?)

I know this is a slightly older thread but.....what radio and antenna did you use to make the contact?

you can use any radio with full duplex (or two radios) from HT to multiple rigs, and a directional antenna AKA yagi

I have a IC7000 and use a scanner as the downlink radio, and a Elk MultiBand antenna.

You should be able to use the 7000 both up and down, correct?

Post subject:  Re: ISS

well yes, but you need a uplink and downlink frequency, the IC7000 is half duplex and AFAIK you can only have one VFO at one time and RIT wont let you go that far off band (that I know of) mind you I think the 756 could if it did VHF but that only covers a bit, they also have U/V so if you had half duplex conversation

but dont quote me I dont get into the radio much I just simply use it for /p work. that's the reason for the scanner for the downlink rx I just can tell you it is NOT a full duplex radio for sat. work (including ISS which is a sat)

No, you should be able to set the downlink in VFO A and then the uplink in VFO B. Press the SPLIT function. I believe this will let you x-mit on the the VFO B frequency and then receive on VFO A.

I'll verify this later tonight, as I'm interpreting these steps from the 7000 manual online.

Thanks to SpudGunMan for the link. As a result I got to listen to the crew do an interview with an elementary school today in Langley, BC.

Just had a pass with some strange data with a very soft female ID every 30 seconds. Seems like it's been quiet for months.
