So with the new rules,should I upgrade to General? The only thing that kept me was learning code. I am a shortwave fan. Hmmm.. My current license expires 2014. Tech since '94. |

yea, you should be able to just test out on QRZ and if you can pass test 1-11 you cant fail. |

So I can test online now? You can see I'm not very active. It would be cool to talk on the intertie to some of you mo-fo's over there. Is the <A href="http://www.srgclub.org/">147.200</A> link up cross state? I remember Pete talking about a couple years ago. this is the right html code?: <A href="http://www.srgclub.org/">147.200</A> I'm scratching my head as to why it won't show up correctly. |

well there is the Evergreen Intertie and the Intertie for south down to cali one is portland something... go to qrz.com and check out the test-online they are practice but its the question pool a lot of people (like me) normally just print up one of those tests and use it for the final test that you take with some VE's you would still have to go in somewhere to test out but thats easy to find. |

Yes that is correct html code. Only problem is that the forum software doesn't support html and requires you to use the URL button for inserting a link. |

Actually, the 147.200 repeater isn't part of the Intertie! Karl (AK2O) owns the system over there (Repeaters in Spokane and Wenatchee) and, of course, Pete owns this part over here. They have an agreement that the two systems are linkable but it is very seldom that they are hooked up. Unless you belong to Spokane Radio Group (SRG) or the group here, I don't think you can get the codes from Karl to link the two together. Karl does own a couple of the 220/440 link repeaters for the KBARA system and the Intertie. The Evergreen Intertie system consists of 6 repeaters. In Spokane, you should be able to get into the 147.380 repeater (Mica Pk) or the 147.360 on Stensgar Mt. between Chewelah and Colville. Then there is the 146.740 on Kamiak Butte (Kamiak Butte Amateur Radio Assoc. or KBARA) between Colfax and Pullman, the 147.020 at Lookout Pass on the ID/MT state line, the 147.260 on Wenatchee Mt (Mission Ridge) and the 147.280 repeater on Pikes Peak near Walla Walla. With the exception of the 147.260 repeater, the rest of them don't use tone...they are all CSQ. These all link into the 145.330 (BEARS) repeater here. There is a North/South trunk that goes into Olympia on Capitol Hill, Portland and I believe Salem now. Off the top of my head, I don't remember what the frequencies are. There is also a IRLP node on the 147.380 machine. Except for the 147.260 and I think the 147.020 repeaters, all of the rest of these are linked together pretty much all the time. If you want to get some info on that part of the system, here is the link: http://www.kbara.org/ . There is also links on this page to the Evergreen Intertie, BEARS and SRG. There is a net on the KBARA system every morning they call the "7AM Northwest Regional International net" and, for that, they also bring up a repeater in British Columbia via IRLP. Thanks for the info. IIRC, the 147.380 is the first repeater I keyed up on when I got my ticket. (c. 1995-ish). I took an HT up to the top of Mt Spokane for a bit of mountain topping one time. That was interesting. It's been awhile since I've even keyed up a mic tied to a ham radio. The K7PP is a neat piece of work. I've worked every 'input', even Forks. Isn't Green Mt set up with a remote receiver? I think it receives above Brinnon, then UHF links to Green to TX. TMF, are you located in the 'far east'? |

The 147.380 was probably the first repeater I keyed up on in 99 when I got my ticket and I used to hang out on that system for the most part. I get back over there about once or twice a month to see family. I'm not as familiar with the K7PP system but have listened on that end when Karl (AK2O ex WA7YCP) or Pete had the systems linked up. Sounds like Karl and Pete think along the same lines as Karl has numerous Voter sites on his systems over there. If you ever listen to his system, from a car; not a motorcycle, when you get to about Ritzville...you can start to hear the phasing between the Wenatchee and the Spokane system with a bit of a warble in the signal. 73... and maybe we'll catch you on the air one day! |
