The last thing I want to do is install a Childrens Band radio in my truck... however, I hit the mountains with guys that are too lazy to get a real radio. Is there such a thing as a HAM rig that can transmit down in the CB wastelands? |

Two things to consider though, its illegal to use a ham rig to transmit outside the ham bands, and most ham rigs don't push their AM modulation as far as CB's which means people would probably hear you at a low volume on their radio. CB's are inexpensive enough you might as well buy one. I have one sitting on the shelf that goes into the car for long trips. They are still moderately useful on the highway for road conditions, "smokey bear", etc. |
