Post subject:  Repeaters near Leavenworth

Hi guys, new here. Taking a trip this weekend up to Leavenworth from Seattle via Highway 2 and was curious if anyone knows some good repeaters freqs in that area? I found one listed for Gold Bar, but that's about all I can come up with.

145.110 (123.0) - on Sobieski (overlooking Skykomish), King County SAR repeater - however, users may chase you off unless it's an emergency...

146.680 (PL 156.7) on Badger Mtn looks up to Leavenworth pretty well, and I believe they may still have a remote receiver in Plain.

146.900 (173.8 ) is on top of Mission (or Naneum), and has a decent signal down there.

442.550 (173.8 ) also supposed to be on Naneum, but I haven't brought it up in years - don't know if it's still actually on the air.

145.490 (100.0) used to be a low level repeater at Lake Wenatchee - I think it's off the air now, though...

There used to be some 440 stuff tied together on Sobieski and Gold Bar, however I think they've been removed.
And I have been chased off the 145.110.

I've seen A-6's cruise up Beckler twice while riding up in that area.

Prowlers or Intruders?

There is the 147.260 in the Wenatchee Mt./Mission Ridge area, that is tied to the Evergreen Intertie. There is a tone on it, but I don't remember what it is. I don't think they keep it connected to the Intertie all the time, but! Also the 147.200 (Spokane Repeater Group/AK2O) on Mission Ridge. This one is tied back into Spokane all the time. There is a tone on it but I believe Karl has it set up so you can get into it CSQ...and if you do need a tone, they won't give it to you over the air. Here is the link to their webpage: http://www.srgclub.org/
Hopefully, Mother Nature hasn't rearranged the antennas on the systems up on those mountains.

Have a good drive and 73!

Not sure, I'm prior Army.
I was at about 4500' riding the 'summer only' FS roads. They go so fast I didn't hear them until they shot by. They were at about 4500 ASL also. I've also seen them up around the Kettle range.

They show up from time to time, all over the place. I've heard stories of them buzzing down Lake Kachess (those may have been F/A 18's), up thru the Columbia River gorge, over the wheat fields and across I-90 in the Basin area (between Moses Lake and Ritzville). You just never know what you are going to see!

I thought the A6 Intruders were all retired and the only variant left was the EA-6B Prowlers. This would probably be a good question for the Mil Air guru (Matt Cawby).

The A-6's are retired and the EA-6's are about to be retired and replaced with the E/F-18 Growler. But not knowing what time frame he is talking about, I have to assume it could have been either one of those he saw.

Addendum: It is the EA-18 Growler, that is replacing the EA-6 Prowler and not E/F-18 as I posted above.

The one's up above Skykomish were about 7-8 years ago. The one over the Kettle crest was last summer. Between Lake Curlew and the crest.
The A-6's, to me, are as distinctive looking with the two across seat, air intake, and the refuel thingy.
But I don't know all the variations.

I have seen some F18's as well over here while riding around in the woods. I see them before I hear them, and most of the time it's just a flash.

The EA-6 is a four seater vs. the two seater A-6. Just think of the EA-6 as a sedan, with wings and jet engines! And both of them are noisier(sp?) than all get out! For the most part, they look alike except for the two extra bodies they carry! And you are right, the F-18's are a flash and then the roar!
