Ok - I'll be supporting the Whidbey Marathon in Oak Harbor tomorrow (Sunday, April 13th). My job is to make the APRS resources work. I'll have a couple of trackers on the air, as well as a base support station.

N7JGX-1 - Net Control/Finish Line (UI-View, KPC-3 TNC, and Alinco Data Radio)
N7JGX-2 - Mobile Tracker (TinyTrack3 & Alinco Data Radio)
N7JGX-3 - Mobile Tracker (TinyTrack3 & Alinco Data Radio)
N7JGX-4 - Mobile Tracker (TinyTrack3 & Alinco Data Radio)

As the North Camano Island digipeater is the only real digi in the area, I don't expect anything spectacular for coverage...however, if anyone does play APRS and wants to monitor the traffic, I'd be interested in getting after-action coverage reports.

The settings will be agressive - once every 60 seconds with a WIDE1-1, WIDE2-1 path. Since it's only a half day event, I can justify settings that are a bit more agressive. Hopefully, that will make up for some missed packets.

Voice Ops on th 146.860 repeater and 146.450 simplex.

Gee, I never seen the [geek][/geek] referenced in html anywhere. hehe.

"WTF over"- one of my favorite radio jargon left over from Army days.

Yea, well that's about the best I can do as far as HTML coding. Just seemed appropriate.

As for the event - APRS went off pretty well - much better coverage than I anticipated. Except for a couple of areas near the shoreline, I had a flawless track on both tracker units. Only two trackers were deployed - the lead and sweep vehicles.

Yep...that quote was part of my Army days, too (probably a few years later than yours).

Hey now, I'm not going to 'date' myself.
I did ETS from the 3rd ID, before moving on to more interesting things.
