So my Yaesu FT-50 doesn't turn on any longer. I need a new HT.
Hmmm, so many choices.
Any suggestions?

I like simply over bells/whistles.

The FT60 was the replacement to the FT50 as a VHF/UHF but not a true dual-band with cross-banding and such. I like mine, uses the same battery as the VX150 and the audio is a little louder.

I'm unclear; you have an FT-60?
That has been a radio I've been looking at.
I don't need a cross-band repeat in an HT, plus I believe some of the FT-50 accessories are compatible with the 60.
FT-60 is +++.

Oh yeah, I like this smiley:

Yes, I have the FT60. I don't know about the cross over of access. unless you're talking about the speaker mic connection which uses the 3-4? pole conductor plug. Probably the same, since YaeHoo dropped the two prong plug for the single. I had two Motorola speaker mics converted to work with the Vertex'

Get a VX-7R.

By the way, most FT-50's fail because the conductive crap under the power button goes bad. Simply replacing the button usually brings them back to life.

I need a new power button, I don't know if Yaesu sells them anymore. I've tried the foil trick without sucess.
I'm thinking of getting a power button with a new radio attached to it. :mrgreen:

I love my VX-6R, I also have the software, and cable for it.

The FT60 is a good rig also. Buddy of mine go it, and I like it a lot.
