How many people here in the sound are using 900 ham, I just programmed up a MTS2000 HT and can bring up a few repeaters and I could not get a response from anyone on the air? I assume it is a pretty dead band?

The activity is fairly light. I helped a friend put a repeater up on Baldi Mtn.

If you don't have it already try 927.950 -25Mhz and 114.8.

Very good repeater, as you know 900 isn't the greatest at a distance or behind hills.

I live in SW Federal Way, you know, the same place the PD and Fire have problems with on 800. I am only set up for mobile at the moment. I have a Kenwood TK-981 mobile and TK-481 portable. I use the portable on low power from SeaTac Mall. At my house a couple of miles west, it barely breaks the repeater.

The 927.950 repeater shares a controler with the 443.075 repeater at the same location. Thus they can be linked together, pretty cool.

Check out http://www.kc7zwg.com this is the repeater owners website. Some things are out of date. IRLP is currently down.

I have a 900 Moto Maxtrac the repeater owner gave me to play with. I haven't looked into it too deep, but I need to change filters to make it work in the amateur band. Let me know if you would like to help out. I would like to make it my home rig.

I will monitor between 7:00am and 7:45am and again from 4:30pm and 5:15pm Monday-Friday, and anytime I'm mobile.

Look forward to hearing you.

Vince.

Down here in Portland, I'm like one of the 4 heavy users of 900 here. We have right now only 3 repeaters but two more will be going up shortly

K5TRA 927.1125- 432 DPL (Portland West Hills)
K5TRA 927.1375- 131.8 PL (Larch Mountain, WA) linked with the other machine.
KD6LVP 927.1250- 103.5 PL (Skyline Tower)

There's going to be a 3rd K5TRA machine coming up somewhere in Southwest Portland and a machine at Goat Mountain will be up hopefully by the end of the month that will be linked to KD6LVP.

I run a TK-981 in the car and at the shack, I have a Maxtrac. Also have a MTS2000 handheld for 900.
