i'm more likely found on the scanning board, but a change in circumstances has me taking a class next month with the goal of obtaining a Tech. license. there are no ham radio outlets near me and i understand the store in seattle has closed. that leaves radio shack or buying from the internet; we all have our preferences in equipment and i'd like to hear suggestions for a simple to use 2 meter ht that will be primarily used for emergency communications, new or used, it makes no difference, save the fact that i am on an extremely limited budget. any help appreciated.
tnx, bob

I don't think you'd go wrong with the VX series from Yaesu Either the vx-150 or the louder and with channel banks, VX-170

Newbie ham!!! Let the hazing begin ;). Great performance, easy to use, very well priced...... I always go with the Kenwood line. Good luck on your test.
