yea sheesh thats quite a list! what else you got hidden away?
Well, I also have my 220mhz list (mainly Western WA), and a 50mhz list (not well updated, since I'm not as active on 50mhz anymore).
I also have the SW WA/NW Oregon sections of those spreadsheets - mainly for the BeachNet system and the Astoria area (for when I go that way for the Seaside Hamfest). There's also an eastern WA section, but I can't verify that stuff nearly as easily.
And yes - simplex is the way to go, when practical. But, repeaters are a necessary and welcomed resource to cover a wide area, or to help portables be a more practical communications resource. They both have their place, certainly.
I try to keep my radios pre-programmed. When I want to travel to an area, I generally want that stuff ready to go - not figuring it out on the fly. Especially with the widespread use of CTCSS for access, knowing that stuff ahead of time (and trying to verify it) really saves some heartache once you get to an area.
So, if there are any repeater owner/operators that lurk in this forum - I thank you for maintaining your system. And the same thanks goes to the various clubs and organizations that support repeaters. It's often thankless, and sometimes done at GREAT expense. And fortunately - it's done for the greater good of the amateur community.
