Anyone have experience with Icom progamming software? Or know a website?
I have a V-8000 icom, using a cheap ebay cable with a copy of the software, the error message states 'check the cable'.
I think the end tip of the cable needs a stereo type connector, the one supplied is mono.

If you can get onto Icom's B2B (dealer site) site you can download all you want.

well that was helpful tip, Im not sure if you just wanted to tout that you have a login. I figure if he was a dealer that he wouldn't be having issues with using the software because he would have the cable to do so

I think the question was more in the arena of "i have a offball connection cable what could my problems be" (not I need a place to obtain software)

are you connecting with a USB/COM or a real com port?

Hi, yes, sorry.
USB, however I believe 'they' sent an incorrect cable.
The cable I received had a 'mono' tip on the radio end, after displaying on the sale page, a 'stereo' tip.
So of course I sent it back with an explanation.
So to be more specific, is the Icom cable require a 'stereo' tip on the radio side?
I guess this is what happens when I try cheap aftermarket peripherals.
The software prompted there was a problem with communicating w/ radio.

well actually that shouldn't be an issue the CI-V cable just needs a ground and tip. so if the plug was stereo the the sleeve wouldn't do anything other then the tip (unless you have a R20/R10 which also send audio out the same jack as the control data)

so it looks like you have no cable now? Likely the issue might be with your USB adapter, there is a lot of issues with them that get in the way sometimes with radios (this however is just one of many possibilities) the cable you purchased might have been funky. but there isnt much to them.

try getting a new cable or making one.

A little late, but...

Yes, it is a "stereo" tip.

Also, the ground side of Data is connected to the sleeve (longer outer piece) and the hi side of the data is connected to the ring (middle part). Nothing is connected to the tip (the tip part).

got 'er going....


I don't have to say how much easier it is to program from a laptop...
