I wonder when the FCC is going to go ahead and drop the code requirement.

I think there are many out here who are watching that closely. The code requirement is somthing the ITU no longer requires for HF operations. But it seems the FCC isn't quick to adopt international policies. I guess instead, they prefer to go against international policies... Like with the BPL situation.

Looks like politics over-shadows sound decision making in that goverment agency.

I agree. In this age of satellite communications and all the other technologies invented in the last twenty or so years, why should the code portion still be required? I have no interest in it myself. I do find it marginally intersting when I see it performed by an old timer at the county fair, when I do. But I don't have enough interest to devote the time to learn it.
