Greetings all,
Camano Island Fire & Rescue has recently offered some surplus MOTOROLA MICOR base station equipment (115 watt DC Tone Remote) to the local HAM Club to enhance their communication abilities. The fire district has challenged the local amateurs to construct and establish a 2 meter repeater in the area to increase signal coverage. The local group currently operates in a SIMPLEX Only mode @ 147.57. Their UHF box (441.040) has been down for some time and they may also be able to link that operation to a VHF repeater, . . . provided they can find a VHF frequency pair and secure the needed frequency coordination.
The group will probably also need some additional hardware to pull this off, (a duplex cavity, repeater controller, etc. and any insight to produce a positive result).
If you have any encouragement, equipment, or wisdom, that can further this project along, please contact Joe Thomas, WA7JT,
caroljo@fidalgo.net to assist.
