Sad to see a notice in the ARRL News letter today that said Professor Bob Brown (NM7M) of Anacortes, WA passed away on May 23rd at the age of 87.
He had lived in a rest home in Anacortes since his wife passed away a few years ago.
Professor Brown who went by just "Bob" was someone I listened to for many years
on the way to work on the Anacortes 145.250 repeater and then on the 145.190 Lymann repeater after the Anacortes repeater went off the air.
"Bob" was a physics professor from the UC Berkley who studied 160 meter propagation and wrote many papers on it. One is...

after he retired from Berkley. Mary Lou was the ARRL Northwest Division Director at one time.
I never got to meet "Bob" but remember talking to him. He was one smart man.
He probably knew more about the 160 meter band than anyone else in the world.
He will be missed by many in the world of amateur radio.
