I'm not sure what you mean by jumping--was it scanning thru and not stopping or hitting several along the way. I have seen, very breifly on some radios with ctcss decoders that will stop based on a subaudible tone a human voice can inflect, but usually it will not be the correct tone being encoded. Usually FRS users dont know how or care to enter one of those insipid 'privacy' codes. Don't know about pro-97 and EF Johnson system monitoring, I usually listen to the status channel on a regular radio if I'm interested. Maybe the San Juan Sheriff wanted drier lumber. |

The WADOT Radio System is an E.F. Johnson Multi-Net II System. As I understand it, there is no current scanning radio that will track this type of trunking system. Correct me if I'm wrong here folks. I have had some luck in monitoring (tracking converstations) on that system, in the conventional mode, by also entering and monitoring the channel frequencies exactly 1 mhz directly above and directly below the specific active channel. Try it sometime when you're really bored. It does seem to work. |

I don't have a PRO-97 -- but I have been told that it does indeed do LTR. As for the possible tone problem -- there are TWO things to keep in mind. FRS does NOT use standard FM. This is to protect the GMRS users. It's like listening to AM on a FM radio. --- You can hear it -- but it's not clear. And second -- All DPL codes also transmit a 134 hz tone burst. It is very common to receive a FALSE tone of 131.8 or 136.5 -- when it is a DPL tone. The real DPL tone doesn't read out -- just the on - off tone burst. |

I have not figured out the system, but know that I get most of the ferry traffic on 866.1375 and the Hood Bridge talks withTacoma base on 866.6123. -m |
