I looked all over and couln'nt find it.

I've logged them on that freq using three different tones on 453.875, namely:

151.4
162.2
and
173.8

There are also Pierce Co ops on 453.625, but IIRC it was park stuff.

I've logged some sort of unknown public works in the Lakewood/Spanaway areas on 460.4875 as well.

MTM, I got it out of the 'Radio Shack' frequency book.
Monitoring radio traffic was more interesting before cell phones, nextels and mobile based networks.

FYI only -- Pierce County Roads were on 159.57 -- from 1963 until moving over to UHF in the late 1970's. 156.24 was also used as a Road operations channel -- before the County Sheriff started using the frequency and they moved to the two UHF channels. Prior to the early 1960's all Pierce County Agencies shared use of 39.82 mhz.

I 1963 I was just a sparkle in my dads.....well you get the picture.
I was 12 (1976) when I inherited on Chrismas from my Grandfather a 10 channel crystal bearcat loaded (complete with flashing lights) with some Seattle area freqs. On Chrismas day, I listened to a pursuit down I-90, the guy somehow made it on a ferry, and I heard "have (whatever agency it was) hold ferry traffic, notify the captain, etc..). They picked him up on the other side.
How neat for a 12 year old's first scanner listening experience. I was hooked.

When I was about 10 years old -- I was playing with the old family radio -- that had the old "police band" as well as shortwave and AM bands. I was able to listen to the LAPD calls on 1730 Khz. I was hooked.

I got hooked to police comms when I was 14
this frend of mine got me started when he was listening to distant a police department on a 8 channel radioshack crystal controlled scanner
at his home.....well that was it, I had to have one.

afew years later saving up all my pennies I got a 4 channel handheld crystal controlled scanner, which I carried day in and day out listening to local police comms around the city.
now 33years later Ive graduated up to one of the most advance scanners on the market.
Yeah just never know where this hobby will lead you in the world of radio communications

I'm still using my Icom 2 meter. Fortunatly where I live public service is still VHF.
I would'nt mind having an all mode HF rig with a modern trunk scanner next to it though. $$$

And you call me old ??? :D :D I still have the first Regency TMR-12 and TMR-8's -- to hit the marketplace. Next you both will own up to using a "Converter" to listen to VHF Lo Band Or High Band. LOL -- LOL --- Or you got your radios as kits from Mr. Marconi. -- LOL --

No, but my uncle had one of those converters..
