I'm hearing that Seattle Fire is going to do a major reprogramming (lots more talk gorups) soon. What's happening, and are any of the other Seattle agencies going to follow-suit? |

Last spring I heard a major overhaul was in the works, primarily designed to let Seattle, Eastside, and South County fire service folks communicate more effectively. The current system is pretty much just the old 453 Mhz system laid over the top of the trunking system. I don't remember any of the specifics, but it sounded thoughtful. Not that this rumor is necessarily what I heard about last spring.... John |

Yes, reality is right around the corner but it's not as complicated as I thought it would be. I have most of it figured out, but need some more answers like- What are the talkgroups for the following (in the King Co area/Seattle system): PSOPSN3, PSOPSN4, PSOPSS3, PSOPSS4, MAPOS, MAPC1, MASN1, RMC/EOC, FEMA FMO. I'm assuming that MAPOS is Mutual Aid Port of Seattle, MAPC1 is Pierce County, and MASN1 is Snohomish County. Now how about RMC/EOC and FEMA FMO talkgroups too? And are the Seattle Battalion Chiefs going to have their own simplex radio frequencies? If so, what are they? |

When a King County radio switches to this TG, they will actually leave the King County System, and switch over to the Sno County System. PSOPS-S3 and PSOPS-S4 are on the Tacoma System, and operate the same way. These are the counterparts to the King County PSOPS-N1, N2, S1, and S2 talkgroups. All of the PSOPS talkgroups are supposed to be programmed into the Police and Fire radios King, Snohomish, and Pierce County so that the various users can operate on their neighbor's radio system when out of their "regular" system. Reprogramming has been put on hold. The Spectra mobiles and fire station bases can't be programmed to look the same as the portables. Stay tuned...... |
