I haven't heard any activity on the state capitol TRS in some time. I noticed my scanners weren't locking onto a control channel so I manually locked the active CC. I hear a strange sound and after comparing it to sound clips I found throughout the internet it sounds closest to MotoTrbo. After reviewing their FCC license they aren't licensed for TRBO so I could be wrong. Is anyone in the area able to monitor and report back? |

I've uploaded an audio sample so that people not in the area may be able to assist. https://soundcloud.com/olyscanner/capitoltrs Taken from 858.7375 |

Yep definitely TRBO. You'll need DSD to decode it. |

And why their license doesn't reflect the emission? http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/license.jsp?licKey=1174555 20K0F3E |

Why would they be trying to extend the range of a system designed to cover only a small area? Since they've gone TRBO, hopefully that'll clean up the unlicensed use of all the VHF high band freqs at the Capitol campus....But I wonder why they didn't just drop in some BDAs and utilize the 700mhz system? |
