I've noticed as of late (and it may have been going on for a while) when some of the courthouse marshals (Xray units) sign on with SNOPAC on TG 1648 they now often say they are switching to "courthouse air". Anyone have details on this? Attached is an example I caught a few minutes ago. Attachment:

Have you tried State Ops-2? I've seen it used in several courthouses and jails. |

No. I have not. There must be a bit more to the picture. Either they carry two radios or only some of the marshals use the courthouse air. I often hear them on SCSO South TG throughout the day talking to each other or SNOPAC. And SNOPAC often contacts them for 911 hangups or alarms that are activated at the courthouse. |

Hmmm...If it wasn't a trunked system, I'd think output simplex. I used to work part-time at a place that saw us using UHF portables on the local PD's system....there were five guys there around the clock, 4 using the simplex talkaround feature on the repeater output, with the fifth keeping his in repeated mode so as to call for assistance as necessary. We'd go in service on the repeater, then switch to simplex mode for the rest of the shift, and back to repeated mode to go out of service. Always amusing to hear someone calling the PD dispatcher multiple times to sign off duty and not understanding why there was no response...No one else felt it necessary to tell them to switch back ![]() |

Yeah, it could certainly be something like that going on. This is either something relatively new going on. Or has been in place for a while and are now advising SNOPAC they are switching. |

This is relatively new...TG1872 is SO-CRTHS. The Marshals tried using one of the Jail repeaters for their operation but the coverage was very limited since the repeaters were designed to operate within the jail only. Rodentkj wrote: Yeah, it could certainly be something like that going on.

Thanks for the info. Got it programmed in my scanners. We'll see what comes up on that TG. |

Talk Group 1872 confirmed as being Courthouse Air. Just heard the transaction happen. Not sure who it was that replied to her when she signed on to the Courthouse Air. But it's not a SNOPAC dispatcher. Must be someone at the courthouse itself. See attached TG1872.mp3 Attachment:
