I've started attempting to map out the Whislers Comms LTR TRS in Thurston county. If anyone has the rest of the frequencies and their corresponding LCN it'd be much appreciated.

I know one of the Tow Companies is Poages, I had to be towed once and the guy used his radio to broadcast my credit card over the air. I called their office and explained how stupid that was and she 'assured' me their trunked radio was private and not able to be 'monitored'. I offered to come by their office and give them a demonstration....

That sounds about par for most of the users I hear on this system. Sounds like a couple tow companies, a plumbing company, and maybe a security company are the primary users. I did an FCC license search and programmed all their frequencies into their own system with each frequency as every LCN. So far 05, 09, and 13 are the only ones used.

Do you hear idle message (short carrier typically 10 second intervals) on any of the other freqs?

If there is a time of day when their activity is high, "if" someone were to busy out the channels you have identified, you will find other trunk-to channels.

Just sayin...

Do you have a d-tapped scanner? You can use LTRAnalyzer to help you out. It doesn't give the frequencies per se but it'll help you identify how many LCNs are being used in the system.

No idle messages that I've heard. There's a call sign (I'm assuming) in Morse around every :30 and :00 on certain talkgroups.


Unfortunately I don't. I have every frequency that I could find for the Olympia area programmed into its own LTR system on my BCT15x. I've got it hooked up to proscan but still have only found LCN's 05, 09, and 13.

Those are all the TGs I've found so far. There was a really interesting investigation going on TG 0-13-042. Units used "Ida" call signs and referred to their station as their 81 just like local PDs do. The TGs ending in 253 are the ones that broadcast the Morse.

Looks like either there are no other LCNs or you haven't caught the system when it's busy enough. If there were more LCNs, you'd see some talkgroups with numbers other than 05, 09 or 13 in the second place.

It is possible that only LCN 05, 09, & 13 are the only "Home" channels on the system.

There can be additional trunk off channels.
Those will typically not have idle message, but will carry traffic when the other channels are busied out.

The system is licensed for five frequencies (normal minimum for a trunked license):

451.9125
461.8625
463.4125
463.7125
464.7875

Start monitoring the first one, especially when the others are busy. Looks like it might be LCN17.

You may be able to program the scanner with the same channel in multiple LCNs - if it doesn't like that, you can fudge it a bit: 451.9125 .9100 .8975 .8950 .8925 .9150 .9175 .9200 .9225 .
