I just took delivery of an Icom F70DT and an Icom F80DT, both capable of P25 conventional. In the interests of experimentation, is there actually anything in the Seattle area to listen to on P25? |

The VHF frequency for Airlift NW on 155.295. They run P25. |

There are 2 P25 UHF ham repeaters in the Seattle area with one planning to go up in the Olympic Peninsula area... Also FPS (conv) and JBLM (trunked) is running in the clear. |

It kinda seems scanning is going to be a dyeing hobby. The only thing it seems like you will be able to listen to in the Seattle area in a few years is analog radios (WSP (they are not encrypted now but is just a matter of time), Ham, common business frequency radios, select non digital TGs on TRS, Marine and NOAA). For digital radios it will be (P25 ham, D-STAR and a select non-encrypted TGs on TRS). Of course there is mototrbo, IDAS, nexedge and ProVoice. Who is going to buy a radio for each format to listen to just that un-encrypted format? Having a scanner that will decode every digital format will be unrealistic if not costly. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? |

Used to be you couldn't get a scanner that would do X2-TDMA, now GRE has a crappy scanner for it. As more systems get deployed, I imagine Uniden will reverse engineer it as well. |

I forgot about the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac. They are on a TRS running on P25 TGs. As far as I know, they are still in the clear. |
