I was listening to a police chase that started in Everett, and wound up on the Lowell River Road with Everett PD in pursuit. Snohomish County Sheriff was apparently in involved as well. The amusing part of the whole thing is that it was on the 800 MHZ trunking system that both of these departments use. It was my understanding purpose it was suppose make it possible have inoperability making it possible for both these departments to talk to each other in this type of situation. I was amazed to hear that Dispatchers from these departments where using scanners to hear and relay information to each other. |

Are you sure about this, I hear Dispatcher cross Dispatch all of the time, meaning I hear a Snohomish SO Dispatcher, Dispatch Everett PD all of the time, not the same day, but it is the same Dispatcher. I would think that SERS Dispatcher are all in the same room. |

Just to clarify some things.. No such thing as a "SERS dispatcher". There is SNOCOM and SNOPAC. SNOPAC dispatch floor is huge as they are not able to talk to each other unlike like how SNOCOM is set up. Most agencies have the ability to talk on other agencies talk groups. Dispatchers can monitor (maybe sounded like the scanner) other talk groups on an external speaker while listening to their talk group on their headset. If the chase started in Everett, it would be Everett’s chase so SCSO would switch over to Everett's talk group. Dispatchers don’t have scanners (At least SNOCOM and SNOPAC). Most if any officers don't have scanners as they have two radios (mobile and HT) |

Both agencies have each others TG's in their radios. And I've heard them switch over and help out on calls many times. Why they did not meet on one TG for this pursuit? Who knows, but the ability is certainly there. |

Quote: Sno-Com isn't by the dump anymore? Is this a question ? I think it is still by the dump. And from what I have been told, everyone's radios in SERS has the same Talk Groups, they are just arranged differently, for example SCFD 7's Bank A is SCFD 1's Bank B |

It is possible that they were having problems with the system the other. That is what it sounded like. I did not hear Everett PD and Snohomish County talking to each other. I thought I heard the dispatchers saying they were monitering the other agencies communications using scanners. I was suprised because I thought they both used the same system and used the same radios. You would they would be able to talk to each other. It would not be the first time I misunderstood what I heard. |

Who knows, but the ability is certainly there. An example is in progress right now. EPD is on SCSO South TG helping out with a call along 4th Ave West. |
