Airlift NW pilots always report persons on board and fuel and then a cryptic "Condition Bravo" or "Charlie."
After much speculation on this board about what it means, I heard a pilot today say "Well, there's a cloud cover, so I'm changing it to Condition Charlie."

Correlating this tidbit with many previous dispatches, I conclude Condition B is clear air and C is cloudy or inclement weather. Some pilots call it "Code Bravo, etc" but I think that's probably not the proper terminology.

So what frequencies VHF/UHF or talkgroup are they using for sure now?

Any chance it's VFR and IFR?

I think they're running mixed mode on the VHF dispatch AND Medcom-1. I'll mostly hear them talk in digital on VHF but occasionally I hear the obvious analog audio on the same channel. On Medcom-1 its almost always analog but the helo has used digital on MED1 and Comm responded in analog.
