So I am getting a bit curious about SAR operations in Washington state.

It looks like the primary communcations is on National SAR (155.16) in most areas plus the usual local channels?

Pretty much, I ran into a group here in Olympia that provides communications much like Mtn Wave does and they were using 151.625 with a tone. I think most every SAR group in the NW has 155.160 in their channel plan. Even Lewis County Sheriff uses it as a C/C occasionally.

YSO does too.

I've also noticed that the radio plans for snoqualmie pass area possesses that freq.

They call it 'SAR'; never heard anything on it...I think ski patrol uses it talking with Seattle Mountain Rescue.

PCSD has it as F-11, labelled "SAR", running CSQ.

AMR ambulance dispatches on it in King County.

PCOBS has it as F-3 in their portables, "SAR", also CSQ.

I believe that this freq. is technically open to a lot of Agencies. When I was active with SAR we didn't use it much in Eastern Wa because some School District in Yakima County was using for their school bus drivers. This was quite a while ago.

Snohomish County SAR operates on 155.415. Which in turn is patched to TG 1616 on the SERS 800 trunk system.

Interesting info guys. In Oregon, we are kind of spoiled by having a statewide SAR channel on VHF...

That school district still uses it with a tone of 179.9. The school district I'm thinking it might be has a bunch of new NB licenses so that problem may be alleviated here soon.

King County mostly uses 153.755. The only time I've ever seen 155.16 used is for large missions with units from multiple counties responding, and not always then.

Yup and Wil touched on this too. Ski Patrol uses it at Snoqualmie, channel tag "SPART" for Ski Patrol and Rescue Team. I've heard Airlift talking to them on it a few times when they pickup someone from the upper lot at Alpental.

Wonder what else changed since last year...When I was there Nov-Apr, Ch-5 was just tagged "SAR" in all the radios I had.

Updates?

Is that 155.805? Is it CSQ? Always wondered...

Yes, thats correct. its CSQ on the receive side; some groups run a TX tone only because in neighboring states, there is a few repeaters with that as an input.

I'm hearing a Med Com unit on 155.215 and Sheriff on 155.160 from Monroe. The 155.160 sounds like it's coming out of the south end of Seattle-Tac. Other listed SAR chnls are school buses. That's exciting to listen too!......:)

This is why a state coordinated SAR channel is important :P
