you could be correct. I'll set up a tone, NAC search to see whats up. I know they do a 9-10pm patient transfer out of Olympia most every night so I'll check it out

Also unusual coms on Med 1, 463.000 Mhz.
Could be a VoIP patch of some sort?
Mention of a new "139" frequency.

I can't hear anything from them at my place...But I don't see anything in their FCC license indicating NB or digital transition....?

Well the talkgroup 61808 MEDCOM 1 is active. Comm Center acknowledged Airlift 6 leaving HMC. Airlift 6 was inaudible...a slight digital voice.....

They have gone digital.... watch the pilot last night pull out a hand held device while on the ground and made contact w/ their base.

The only digital authorization for Airlift Northwest that I could find was for a fixed base at Thun Field in Puyallup.

Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WPDX698 -
AIRLIFT NORTHWEST HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER

Emission type 20K0F2D

And as far as I know they might not have a TX there anymore since they moved their southern base to Olympia several years ago.

It seems that they are also having major problems with the Medcom 1 channel not working properly and are resorting to other means of communications (cellphones?)

As of 13:17, Radio Service is working on it.

I'm just pulling your leg he was on his cell phone. My past encounter has been analog.

Med-1 has had problems with intermod/paging systems getting into the repeater for ages. I hear it all the time on there. Their voice traffic is absolutely still analog though. They had a tech working on it the other day trying to clear up something else entirely. After they got it back up the pilot said "sounds just as good as before the move". (this was on Sat Nov 13th)

99% of their problems seem to come from Medic One doctor not knowing how to use a radio and thinking it's a full duplex telephone. The other 1% seems to come from flight nurses running into the Time Out Timer on their radios. If anyone knows someone over there tell them lengthen their time-out timers in the radio programming or teach the flight crew to let up on the PTT between sentences. At least 1 flight nurse has figured this out and she never drops out.

I just heard a pilot on Mecom 1 say "contact me on the new primary."

Bummer! Anyone know what that is?
Maybe the talkgroup previously mentioned in this thread?

"New primary", eh? :? "Primary" is their VHF dispatch channel. Medcom-1 is sometimes called Med-1. Not sure about any "new" primary.

I would be very surprised if they went digital though because of the type of operation they are. A weak signal from the field is still usable by them in most cases whereas a weak digital signal is no signal at all.

Anyone know who they have working on their system? Day Wireless recently lost some of their best talent.
