I've been hearing PD dispatch and records checks on this freq. lately alot heavier at night vs. daytime hours. I have it in my scanner as M.I. Emergency Ops. I'm using an RS 800 Mhz. antenna on my Pro-97 and still recieve this very powerfully. I was wondering if M.I. uses it as arecords checking freq. or is it possible I'm pulling whatcom co. S.O. this far with a regular antenna. I'm in Bellevue, up on the ridge close to Newcastle. Thanks

453.325 with a pl of 85.4 is used as the main Whatcom County Sheriff frequency.
If the pl is 85.4 it is probably up here.

This frequency is licensed in Pierce Co & King Co also.

That is indeed the Pl I'm getting on this freq. Had no idea I could pull that far with just little RS 800Mhz antenna. Interesting. Thank you

I'm also getting 453.2500 with a PL of 156.7. can't find this in the database. Sounds like a PD as well. I have it with no PL as M.I. pub works.

That second one should be San Juan County S.O.

453.325 is indeed whatcom county sheriffs dept
453.250...san juan county sheriffs dept

To me these depts are quite local and heard on a daily basis even on a handheld scanner with a rubber duckie antenna attached to it.

vhf /uhf skip conditions are running real good at the moment... so who knows who you'll hear on the bands even with a small antenna.
click on this link to find out what the conditions are http://www.dxinfocentre.com/tropo_wam.html
A few of us up here are hearing vhf/uhf stations down south in the 70-120mile range on external antennas.... 150miles max if your lucky with the right tropo ducting conditions.

Local VHF Tropo was the best I have heard in, like, ever. Was doing the CQ WW VHF contest, everybody's signals were several times normal strength. Example... Portland area VHF SSB operators at my home QTH
are generally not heard to "just over the noise"... Most were S3-5!!!
Helped that PSE cooperated and the background trash was minimal...
Yes, power line noise DOES happen at VHF and above. Just ask your local radio astronomer!
