Fire District 1 opens new station 04.15.10 Snohomish County Fire District 1 crews started responding from a new fire station on April 15. Fire Station 10 at 3922 156th St. SW north of Lynnwood is designed to meet the needs of today’s fire and emergency medical service. The location just east of Highway 99 was selected to optimize response times after Fire District 1 conducted an extensive study of call loads and patterns as well as travel times. The new 13,000-square-foot station includes crews quarters, a multipurpose training room and apparatus bays for an engine and a medic unit. Three firefighters will be on duty at the station around the clock. A grand opening and open house for the public is being planned for May 22 from 10 a.m. to noon. The event will include a ceremony with the Fire District 1 Honor Guard and the Snohomish County Firefighters Pipes and Drums; station and fire engine tours; bunker gear demonstrations; 9-1-1 call simulator; interactive Hazard House presentations; the Wheel of Safety game; activities for children and refreshments. The total cost for the project, including building, design work and land, totaled $5.4 million. By setting aside money each year for capital improvements, Fire District 1 was able to fund construction of the new station out of its regular property levy without going to the voters for a bond issue. With the opening of Fire Station 10, Fire District 1 now provides full-time staffing at 12 fire stations. As the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in the county, Fire District 1 serves more than 225,000 residents in unincorporated communities; the cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace; and the town of Woodway. |

I'm curious what apparatus is there... I had heard E10 was going to be the old E19 and M10 was the back up medic unit, that is currently Aid 11. Any word on what's in there? |

Fire District 1 Commissioners voted 5-0 to pursue merging with Fire District 7. Fire District 7 Commissioners voted 4-0 to pursue merging with Fire District 1. If it happens I'm not sure what it would be, Inter Local Agreement, Merger, or Regional Fire Authority. Each one is politicly different. Stations would be 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, and 77. Between 13's and 77's one would have to close, probably 77's. 13's would be un-crossed manned. |
