A few hours of good skiing, though the base was kinda icy. Not a lot of people today, and thus probably less comms than a busy day would yield.

Enroute:

155.700 (114.8 )- Echo Glen Children's Home, Snoqualmie. Simplex.

155.6025 (179.9)- Snoqualmie Tribal PD. Repeated. What I thought would be the input (153.9125) was passing some sort of DPW traffic.

================================================================================

The Pass:

155.265 (CSQ)- Ski Patrol. Simplex.

151.520 (118.8 )- Instructors. Simplex.

155.205 (CSQ)- Summit Central Ski Patrol. Simplex. Lots of interference from AMR ambulance in Seattle (103.5 tone there).

167.5125 (N714)- IWN System site 134 control channel. Hyak location?

152.405 (203.5)- Shuttles and parking. Called Ch-11. Repeated, input on 157.530.

157.530 (210.7)- Input to 152.405.

151.835 (118.8 )- Lift maintenance. Simplex.

152.315 (203.5)- Catch-all repeater. Heard Guest Services, IT, Security, Food and Beverage, etc. Input on 157.485.

157.485 (206.5)- Input to 152.315.

151.865 (118.8 )- Central Lift Operators? Possible Ch-2. Simplex.

151.805 (118.8 )- Instructors? Simplex.

151.040 (123.0)- WSDOT/WSP patch. Couldn't tell where it was.

151.685 (127.3)- Instructors? Unsure of the tone. Simplex.

================================================================================
Picked up two more on the way home:

155.820 (D703)- Muckleshoot Tribal Gaming Commission. Repeated.

159.885 (162.2)- Green River Community College. Campus security was on here; repeated. Need to check this one again and find the input.
================================================================================

Lastly, can someone confirm or deny that Snoqualmie PD is still using the low band freq of 39.820? I saw a few SPD cars with either low-band antennas or CBs...

I've heard snoqualmie on ESPCA with ID 28336 - don't know if they still use the lower frequencies...

I drove from Spokane back to the west side today. I listened to 151.040 and what I was hearing was definitely on the east side. I started to pick it up just west of Ellensburg and could hear it at the summit. I didn't have to go very far west from the summit until I lost it completely.

I've heard it occasionally on this side with a 123.0 tone, but it is somewhere near the summit.

Maybe at the McDonald Mt site at the stop of and just beyond one of the Summit West chair lifts along with KC's system (modest sized, access controlled and video monitored site there, this is not the old Timber Wolf lodge which is now a cell site) or it could be at Stampede pass with the rest of the WSP equipment for that area (the more likely place). Either site has a very sharp cut off as you travel West from the pass. The ski resort's 2 repeaters are on top of Chair 2 at Alpental and reach as far West as MP 45; everything else is simplex.

From my programming list:
"151.04000","DOT link Blewitt","131.8"
"151.02500","DOT link NasonCk","156.7"
"156.12000","DOT link No.Bend","151.4"
"151.04000","DOT link Snoq E","123.0"
"151.02500","DOT link Snoq W","123.0"

I think SnoqE is in Easton and SnoqW at Hyak; 156.12 is Rattlesnake (and has really low audio).

Went to Spokane last month (Dec 17 and returned Dec 20/21) in the time period of the big snow storms and heard DOT traffic on:

151.025 - Units were talking about SR97 and working snow removal on Blewett Pass.
151.070 - Units working on I-82 from Ellensburg south.

The repeater is, AFAIK, atop Top Station, and transmits South and East. There is no lift named Chair 2. The coverage is fairly good even in the lower Hyak area, but directly below the antennas at Alpental it blows.

Regardless, most of the Summit freqs are now in the database. Search King County, Business, VHF. I need to tie them into Kittitas County's listing as part of the Summit property lies in Kittitas Co.

Also, FYI, the old UHF system is gone. A few of the base radios are still in place, but unplugged from both antennas and power.

Snoqualmie PD has 4 channel highband Icom "commercial" VHF mobiles programmed for 2 meter band amateur frequencies. One of the requirements for being employed as a Snoqualmie PD officer is you get your ham ticket :mrgreen:

Antenna you see is likely VHF highband 5/8 wave...

Parked that Big White Bus in town during an ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes some years ago, and received a friendly visit with one of their officers...
Actually, all of my visits with Snoqualmie PD officers have been friendly :!:

Previously I was in the "Ugly Green VW Bus", reported to them as a "suspicious vehicle"... The Officer who contacted me, after explaining what I was up to, offered suggestions for better operating locations to use, ones that likely had better line-of-sight out of town, and, would not arouse the suspicions of citizens unaware of the operating event :wink:

Have the DOT links, 151.025 and 156.12 disappeared? I only hear 151.040 barely from my post.
