Any reviews of this scanner in the Puget Sound area. Looks like I can get 3 of these for the price of 1 996T. Looking at getting upwards of 10 units that would be monitored by "Look, Listen, and Lock" users. Features beyond on/off, volume and stop/start not necessary, but signal quality and range are important. http://www.scannermaster.com/GRE_PSR_40 ... 501184.htm Thanks! |

I have two Pro-97s, which is the equivalent of the PSR-300, which is the handheld version of the PSR-400. The receivers suck. I mostly use them for 800. At the fireground I was at a few hours ago--an area subject to really bad multipath--all of the $5,000 Moto handhelds were working fine while I got tons of static and sometimes didn't even get a comm. If it's just going to sit on one frequency it's fine, but if it's a conventional frequency there's no way to disable power save mode (at least on mine, can't say for the PSR). If it was holding on a trunk talkgroup and you powercycle it, it starts scanning again. Signal quality and range are also depend on your antenna. If you're in a fixed location, get a Yagi. |
