Hi, I'm a volunteer in Vashon Island Fire & Rescue (VIFR). We're a KCRS 800 subscriber and are dispatched by ValleyCom. I'm trying to program a BCD396T to match our 800 mobiles and portables. For exercises and training we use talkgroup "13 Admin", which I presume is unique to VIFR (we are also known as King County Fire District 13). Does anyone have the TGID for "13 Admin"? Thanks - Daniel |

If you can't find the TG you can bring your scanner to the Station and put it in search mode on the VC TRS and key the mike with your fire Dept. radio. |

This should be 31120. Once you figure it out and the rest of the TG's in the Vashon radios please let us know. Thanks. |

Paul wrote: This should be 31120. Indeed it is. I had tried getting the scanner to lock on to my rig's HT last week without success. Tried again today - It took me a few tries to get the scanner - a BCD396T - to lock on before I finally remembered that I needed some physical separation between the HT and the scanner. The HT was overloading the scanner, causing de-sense. Moving them two arms length apart worked. Also, it should come as no surprise that the BCD396T's RX sensitivity with the stock wideband antenna is far below that of an MTS2000. I have to open the bay door for the former to find the control channel. |

If you're doing a lot of 800 monitoring, I highly recommend the Radio Shack 800MHz antenna. That and the BNC/SMA adapter have outperformed the other 800 antennas I've used. |

Oh, and another trick for the 396 (should work for other Uniden DMA scanners): While scanning the system, press HOLD, type the TG, and press HOLD again. It'll lock onto that talkgroup until you hit up or scan. |
