I had a request to find out what makes a DNR Type 1, 2 or 3 attack team. I'm still getting a full explanation, but an excerpt I found from the web sheds a little light: "Incident management teams are categorized as either Type 1, 2 or 3. Type 3 teams manage less complex fires. A Type 3 team is staffed with 6-8 people and manages incidents with typically 50-100 people involved in the response. Due to the smaller size of Type 3 teams, they can often mobilize and respond faster than Type 1 or 2 teams. The smaller team size also helps to reduce costs. By comparison, a Type 1 team can have more than 75 members and handles the most complex incidents managing more than 1,000 firefighters and support staff." http://www.dnr.wa.gov/RecreationEducati ... 9_038.aspx |

As you continue to learn more about the Wildland Firefighting typing of teams you will also learn that this pertains to equipment as well. Type 1, 2, 3 brush trucks and engines and everything else. |
