The 900 is the gas system end of it. It used to be the old Washington Gas before PSE bought it. I understand not much traffic is on this. MRT did a writeup of the PSE system a few years back

I listened for about 2 weeks earlier in the year. Everything I found is in the database.

Well, I'll keep listening - but I've never heard so much as a mic keyed up....

I recall the majority of the traffic being between 8 and 10 am weekdays. The system is silent weekends.

Working out the WO's for the day?

Yeah, pretty much. Seemed like there was only traffic when someone's phone wasn't working/on/being answered. And they use a program called PCAD--no prize for guessing what that one means.

I hear the system is located on Gunsite Ridge near Mount Philchuck and PSE may abandon the repeater site. There is no real date set yet. I think it is a political decision at this point. PSE is very cautious about the information they release for security reasons.

well they had towers here and there around the area for years, when they went to PSE from Puget Power they kinda droped the old radio system (it was years and years ago that my family in PSE stopped carrying a motorola and started cell phones)

the system has been all but dead for years now (like 3+) there is sometimes traffic I read about on here but they dont use it during major issues any more

they all use nexthell

a good example is the PSE amateur repeater that uses the old site.

I remember the old Wa Nat Gas vans with the big lowband whips. Think of all the money they could have saved if they kept things that way, not to mention they would have a radio system that has some good simplex range if needed.

Electrical guys are still VHF, hear them loud and clear. They're more important to me since I care when the power goes out.... was just curious about the gas folks. Probably free up that bank and monitor something else now :-)
