http://www.flickr.com/photos/atomictaco/3642812001/ This tcbshark00 person... full of hot air or does he have a point? And is my post factually accurate? It's based off info I've gleaned here and what I've heard over the air. |

Well, I can tell you what I know, if you're interested. In South King County, BLS transpoorts are done by Tri-Med, AMR and some fire Aid Cars. Occasionally Renton Aid 12 or 17 or a Maple Valley Aid car will transport Some areas, Skyway (District 20) for example, get a Tri-Med unit dispatched with fire on every aid call. Other areas request a BLS unit from Valley Com. All of the areas, with the exception of Federal Way and Auburn are Tri-Med. All of the R/M cars down here do IFT only. And all of the R/M South 24 hour cars are now 12 hour cars based out of Mountlake Terrace. Some areas, like Bellevue and Kent request all response "Red". All others are cold response, unless upgraded by the fire unit on scene. 99.9% of transport to hospital are done cold. (No lights/sirens) Safer for the crew and patient. Most of the patient reports are done on cell phone, but I will occasionally use the HEAR radio if I'm in a truck with a decent radio in it. :) What else do you want to know? |

In Snohomish County Fire District 7 we transport both BLS & ALS no AMB's When I first got hired in the early 90's we would use Shannon AMB then we started transporting our own and billing for it. All the Fire Departments around us could not believe we were charging. The fee is way below the AMB price and we believe we provide a better service. Well all those Departments that could not believe we were transporting are now charging a fee just like us and they are also paying Fire District 7 to Bill the patient or Medicare because we are also a Billing office. |

For Dist 47, with the exception of FD family members we rely on the privates for all transports. Either AMR or Tri-Med. For BLS calls, they get automatically dispatched with us. They will come non-code unless we ask for them to come Red. For ALS calls we automatically get Medic (normally 11 or 12) and then have to ask for a private if it ends up being a BLS call. Maple Valley runs with us a lot too but they will not transport our calls. They do however transport they own BLS calls. |
