Nothing on any of the local news sites about it.

I hate those training exercises. I still remember the embarrassment of telling everybody in the office that Microsoft had been attacked by terrorists with chemical weapons. :bowrofl:

Yeah I turned on my scanner just as it started and Swat was arriving. Then heard them set up command with Metro Transit Tac. and it was clear that it was a drill.

Still interesting to listen to for a while.

Most of the time if it is a training event like that and my scanner is scanning it of course it will catch my ear, but as I look to see what Talk Group they are on then that will tell me it is a drill.

It was about 2 years ago, I heard on one of the more less used TAC channels down here on the trunking system doing a training drill for a bank robbery. I thought it was serious as they were not using one of the training talkgroups, but then about halfway though, I heard I guess the coach for the whole drill tell them to stop for a minute.

Several years ago I helped a co-worker set up the Trunker program. A while later he came to work in the morning asking me if I had heard all the activity the night before. Shots fired at a police officer and a pursuit after a bank robbery. I asked him "you mean the one on front street?" Yeah he said with excitement! I said Doug how many banks are open at 9:30 at night? Oh yeah...
I got a good laugh out of it.
The training was done at Pacific Raceways in Kent. Front street, back street, and tower lane etc..

Vince.

My absolute favorite, though, was on a ham repeater.
442.950 in Federal Way.

In the early 90's, I had it on, and turned up.
No activity for quite some time.
Then, all of a sudden, a female voice came on the air screaming "Look out!"

Then the screeching of tires, a loud collision, then silence.

I thought - "Holy crap" (or something like that).

After a short pause (long enough for me to wonder who the hell just crashed - live - on the air) came the voice of the repeater owner saying "watch out, it's the KA7GZR repeater, Federal Way"

That was one hell of an ID.
It sure got my attention...

I'll tell you what I like to do sometimes on my 5 day break, if I hear training being conducted on F-TRAIN I can get a good idea what I'm up against when I return to shift. I know, it's a little sneaky.
