| Post subject: | Farwest/taxi voice channels? |
So, over the past few days, I took a WHOLE bunch of taxi rides for work reasons. I noticed that, while Farwest Taxi (KOA316) does all of their dispatching/position reporting/status updates via MDT, they still have voice microphones in their cars, down near the floor. One of the drivers told me it was for emergencies. Any clues? |

I've seen taxi like you describe in Toronto. It was actually connected to a PA on the outside of the car strangely enough. Their dispatch was done actually via SMS. |

are these mdt terminals encrypted? |
