no time in the near future (2-200 years out) you will need to apply a firmware patch that comes out in the first half of 2009 (give or take) from uniden to support it |

"By this Public Notice, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) announces that the 30-month transition period for reconfiguration of 800 MHz licensees along the U.S.-Canada border will begin on October 14, 2008. As specified in the 800 MHz Second R&O, which established the 800 MHz band reconfiguration plan for the U.S.-Canada border regions, affected 800 MHz licensees must complete band reconfiguration within this 30-month transition period, which will end on April 14, 2011." Rebanding planning has begun. We await a list of proposed new frequency assignments. BILT has already received theirs. Wiz |

haha quoting uncle sam is always wishywashy. last I saw on here was 2011 for the switch, like any good government program its down to the wire, no one makes money by finishing ahead of schedule :) and that's to say they wont push the date out... homeland security... here is another fun date "Thursday January 1, 2009 will be the day America goes all digital. The analog television signals that have come into our homes over the air since the birth of TV will end the night before, and a great technical revolution that has been in the making for years will finally be complete," said U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, chairman of the committee." sure its begun but not going to be something to reprogram the scanners next week, month or year. |

That IS the schedule we are working with (it is law). There is no guarantee of an extention. We have a lot of planing and work to do. When looking at dates, you need to know what affects the area. We are Wave 4, border. "The switch" will not happen overnite. We, in King County, will need every minute to make this happen. It is now less than 30 months left to do the job. And like the quote said, 2011 is the end date. BTW- the digital TV date is 17 February 2009, not 1 January 2009. Some TV stations are already cutting over- the 17th is the end date to have it done. There is a test area (city) in the US that has already cut over- I'll let you research the name and details. I NEVER said it would be done "next week, month, or year." I was just trying to give some first hand insight. So don't shoot the messenger. Wiz |

i wasnt shootin anyone. just sayin that best laid plans never come to attrition with government mandates or projects. the date for digiTv I quoted was just a example of the rebranding project changing dates back in 2005 it was jan1 but moved to feb later on for politics. anywhoo wasnt trying to make a mess just adding in that it could take 2 to 200 years as a joke that uncle sam is slow at anything and a mess that is as big as rebranding a few thousand radios isnt something that is typically done "on time" i do however proudly pay tax for you to work out the problem time line kept or not :) |
