I'm in downtown Seattle and am able to get the Tacoma data channel on rare occassions. I'm looking for an antenna recommendation and anyone who is getting the system north of me. Thanks! |

http://www.dpdproductions.com/page_scanner.html#uhflp 700-1000mhz LP This one is what I use from my house in Bellevue. I am on a hilltop so that might be helping a bit too. It's not perfect signal quality (from Bellevue) but enough to listen to the trunk. It might do just fine for you though. It's cheap and very simple to put together. Works great with a piece of electrical PVC pipe (grey color) from hw store. There are other LP or Yagis out there but they are quite large. The best one is 5" in length and costs about $300. If you are interested, I can send you the link. PS. Just be sure to use quality coax for it - and keep the run length as short as possible. -Nick |

Just installed a unit that looks like the one pictured and am getting the Pierce County system at about 3/4 out of 5 bars from downtown Seattle. Hearing Lakewood PD and Tacoma PD/FD. Not hearing Puyallup PD/FD. I'm hitting 868.4000 (Puyallup) and it's all quite. Thanks for the help! |

Puyallup and Tacoma are on the same system. Puyallup has their own site but its control channel is 868.575 -- not sure where you got 868.40. -Nick |

After the voice finishes the scanner begins picking up a control channel also on 868.4 in King county. Without proper end code detection the hang goes on forever. I do not know why 2 systems have the same chan assignment so close together - Puyallup and KingCo RJC/Court house. |
