just a hair out of typical input, also on the low end. you sure it wanst a repeater input you caught? ( I haven't looked at the license to see if that was a channel)

The repeater input freq would be 458.225 for 453.225

as for the new freq of 460.225 the repeater input would be 465.225

Ive heard the 458.225 input freq in use while visiting the bellingham area...the only thing that confuses me is that they use different ctcs tones for the repeater input and output freqs?????

yea I wasn't saying that it was the input just seems like odd spacing on the channels for the repeater overlap on input and outputs. But that might be why there is the tone confusion. All this messy due to the boarder?

These are all normal splits.

450-455 repeater outputs
455-460 repeater inputs all +5MHz

460-465 repeater outputs
465-470 repeater inputs all +5MHz

The 453.xxx and the 460.xxx are two seperate channel pairs.

Historically, the 460.025 - 460.550 were licensed to PD's,
also the 453.025 - 453.xxx were licensed to municipalities, used for PD, FD and LG.

In this case Bellingham found a pair available at 460 and another pair at 453. The fact that they both end in .225 is coincidental. No conspiracy here.

The fact that different input vs. output tones is also quite normal. It is possible that more than one repeater exists, with different input tones for each. Some areas will do this to provide a "North" rpt vs. a "South" rpt or some such arrangement. Output tones would be the same for both so everyone can hear either repeater.

Mason County had a 460.225 channel, 114.8 tone - is that what you're hearing?

Mason County to Bellingham would be a long haul!

King County also had a 460.225 license before they went trunked.

I have monitored 460.225 for some time now from Bellingham with nothing heard.
Don't think it is being used here yet.

Looks like 460.225 R/M will be Digital. Possibly a Police Tac channel. 453.225 should remain as primary with 155.07 as a secondary use channel. 460.225 is shared with Mason County SO --.

If they split transmit and receive antennas and space them the 2 mHz split shouldnt be too hard to accommodate. But there could be an intermod component there it their not careful. Frequencies are hard to come by so you take what you can get sometimes.

Engineers and techs split pl's for a few different reasons. Doing it to keep the transmitter from keying up the receiver is a bandaid. I actually would rather know that I have problems so I can deal with them.

460.225 for Mason Co north is on Gold Mt. and can be heard very well in parts of Bellingham. Ive heard it on my portable on my hip while working up there....

Why would they need to "split" antennas ??? Both 453.225 and 460.225 could be installed ( and most likely will be installed ) into one mobile or portable transceiver as (F-1) and (F-2) ( OR as F-1 through F-4 ) and need only use one antenna. Are you thinking that they would use two mobile units in each patrol unit ?? No need.

No no.. on the site where the base station equipment is installed...

the output of 460 is a tad close to the input of 458. Not hard to deal with but potential exists for some desense. We generally split receive antennas from the transmitter antennas for a variety of reasons when we have more than one basestation on site in a band, but the extra 60dB or so of separation is probably the most important. Antennas are shared among the equipment so tower space is saved also.
