just got a BC246t scanner. I live on Vashon island,wa. I have 23280, which is KC sheriff precinct 4 dispatch(according to the map precinct 4 is all of vashon and Burian). Over the last couple days I've only heard 2 calls that were on Island, everything else is in Seattle. I can't believe the cops driving around Vashon have their radios cluttered with reports of off island stuff. Plus I'm not hearing car to car talk. Anyone know what I'm missing or where I might be able to track down what channels they use? looks like vashon is referred to as "V1 district" or "V1 patrol" Also I have "Vashon Fire" and "Vashon Fire2" and have yet to hear anything on them. |

I would assume not much crime out there I would suppose, what criminals want to take a ferry hehe.... obviously however the traffic on that precinct is going to have 95% traffic for south county. car to car is either on TAC 23312 or cell or they could use some VHF radio (not uncommon but more unlikely for KCSO) you will haven to listen to see what TAC they call each other on. listen for Victor units, if they use VHF they will likely say switch to Mobil/VHF/TAC5/some other code word, from officer to officer. im not a Fire/EMT watcher so I cant help much there but i do show 151.0850 as the primary I don't know if its repeated on trunk... |

thanks, yeah not too much crime, only a few cars patrolling. However they have been cracking down on speeding. Just was wondering if anyone knew a special Chanel that only island patrols use. I've heard victor unit on the precinct 4 group but as I said it's only harped a few times. |

If you don't like the PD sharing a talkgroup your really going to hate the FD side. They use the VC system and share talk groups with nearly every department from Seattle to Tacoma. Fire 1 Dispatch Fire 2 Basic aid calls Fire 3 Car wrecks/Fires/all other calls Fire 4 thru 7 The same as fire 3/ and any calls that might require a dedicated talk group You can look up the talk group numbers. Vashon units start at 55 and might go as high as 59. |
