Ah, great mind think alike!

I was searching the VHF low end myself over the last couple of days down here in Portland. I caught a helicopter headed up to Gray AAF on 32.3000 MHz FM, and today caught a repeater on 29.3800 MHz, 151.4 PL. It may be a MARS setup or something, but it's not a 10 meter amateur frequency. What's weird is I was hearing some hams coming through the repeater, but they said they were all using a simplex frequency and commenting on what range they were getting (or not getting ) on simplex. They were apparently using whatever frequency is the input to this repeater for their simplex operations.

I may work on low band again next week, but I'm working in Spokane this weekend with no radios :( Keep us advised if you find more!

29.38 is within HAM band, however it is not where repeaters are normally seen.

Most 10M FM repeaters are:

29.6
29.62
29.64
29.66
29.68

I have seen remote bases operated around where you found this, so it could be a remote base connected to a 2M or 440 repeater.

I have heard this is considered the "Satelitte subband", and in fact was chewed out years ago operating near there, for that very reason.

Satellites that operate 10M are usually SSB, so I doubt you are hearing one of those.

Thanks very much! I'll keep listening and see if I can catch some call signs.

29.38? Hmm...thats an odd one. I'll have to try to monitor that to figure it out.
