While sitting here messing around on the computer and watching NWCN, I see a headline scroll across the bottom that reads "NAS Whidbey takes delivery of first EA-18 Growler"... Something to watch and listen for!

The question really is whether or not Matt has got the Tail #'s and call signs yet?

I'm sure we won't have to wait long for that to show up here.... :D

They just panned across one of them, and thanks to TiVo, I saw VAD-129 painted on it.

What NWCN reported was they took delivery of their first "one"! Did they show only one or did it look like there was more there?

Rather than transfer the show, strip the DRM, then get some screenshots I just took my camera to the TV. But only the last 30 minutes of live TV is saved, so I was only able to snap one picture before the segment was discarded.

The only other shots they had was of one plane (VAD-129) by itself in a hanger.

It was paused. I cheated. I had a tripod. But it was a CRT, so I guess that helps my cause a bit.

The VAQ-128 callsign FENIX is being used again. VAQ-128 was disestablished in May 2004. FENIX 1 flight, side numbers 151 and 152, landed at Whidbey the morning of June 4. FENIX 3, "a single F-18" landed in the afternoon. VAQ-129 is the first squadron to get the Growler, all the FENIX aircraft were on the 129 base freq 268.75.

The Growler at the Whidbey ceremony had a 550 side number, so PUGET 550 might be another possiblity.

Saw some F-18s playing at Mcchord today. Was it them?

If they had, what looks to be orange, on the tail, then yeah, it could have been them.
