Everything was Simplex as far as I could tell. Next day there's live racing I'll try listening on what would be the repeater outputs. I'm a little over a mile west of the place, and I can pick up everyone with S Meter of 3.

452.075 (74.4) Security. Logging this at home I'm not seeing the PL being used, but I know it is.
464.5125 (DC 464) Housekeeping. Also heard Security calling Maintanance to no response.
463.3125 (DC 464) Commissary. The Commissary is on the 1st floor; it's more or less like a mini warehouse. They also change soda and kegs for the concession stands, restaurant areas, and deliver to the mobile beverage stands. Every concession stand has a radio sitting somewhere on a countertop, I belive all Beverage people carry one, all Commissary workers carry one. I don't remember if the kitchen is on this channel.

Those are really the big users, not many other people have radios. I know the Valet guys in Parking don't carry radios, though the Parking guys collecting your $5 might have radios. The one shuttle I was on did not seem to have a radio. The Mutuals (the ones that take your money in exchange for a slip of paper predicting the next race) definitley don't. The "on the floor" members of Administration do carry radios.

Since we're all radio nerds, I know everyone wants to know what kind of radios they had. Here's what I saw:

Security uses HT1000 radios. They all transmit a leading-edge ANI. It's quite annoying and freaking pointless since they all have the same ID. Security seems to be the only one that has HT1000s. Each radio has a piece of paper laminated to the front, it takes up the entire portion below the speaker. I don't know what was written on it, because whenever you get that close to someone and start studying their belt, they start asking questions, and I didn't want to go there. There was also an Auburn PD officer there today, and they gave him one of their HT1000s.

The two members of Administration that I saw "on the floor" had what looked like HT750s. One of them is Julie, who gets called a lot on the Commissary channel, she's the Deli (Concessions) manager. Other is Don, a 70+ year old guy that's been doing horse racing since the days of Longacres. I'm not sure exactly what his title is, but he oversees all of food & beverage. There's a beverage manager, and at the time I worked there (3 years ago) his name was Dan. Never heard much about him.

Housekeeping carried what looked like Kenwood TK380s. Sandy is their manager and is always super quick to respond on the radio. I couldn't tell what the Commies were carrying.

Probably Red radios.

AAR, After Action Report. I saw that guy Wilrobinson uses it a lot. Could mean tons of other things too.

I've been listening to Security and watching for that PL. Turns out the guy that programmed my scanner forgot to enable PL Search for that frequency. So pretend that I never said anything about them possibly not using a PL, because I know for a fact that they do.

Now, for the license. They have an active license, WPLL485. I never caught them using either the input or output to this repeater. I don't think they even have a repeater. WQD410 is licensed for those same frequencies and they actually use it. Quite a bit too.

Now, going back to what I know about the place, Emerald Downs is really Northwest Racing Associates DBA Emerald Downs. ULS has nothing for NRA. But, EmD is owned by the Muckleshoot tribe. A quick search through everything the Muckeshoot are licensed for and we find.... nothing! Either these guys are unlicensed or there's something I'm not seeing.

That's what I was banging my head against for some time, especially when a guy I vaguely know worked there and told me they have 16 channels in the radios.
