In an attempt to be more "uniform" with the surrounding agencies, beginning Jan 1st, agencies dispatched by Eastside Comunications (Bellevue, WA), will discontinue the use of "Truck", and begin using the term "Ladder".

i.e.;

Truck 11 is now Ladder 11
Truck 16 is now Ladder 16
Truck 26 is now Ladder 26
Truck 31 is now Ladder 31
Truck 42 is now Ladder 42
Truck 63 (61?) is now Ladder 63 (61?)
Truck 73 is now Ladder 73
Truck 77 is now Ladder 77

The Bellevue Light Forces will stay in place until there is adequate staffing to field a Ladder and an Engine independently - then, Light Force 3/7 will turn into Engine 3/Ladder 3 and Engine 7/Ladder 7.

And on a side note - Eastside will start using the Locution Dispatch and signalling system in late January or early February - provided there are no unseen system problems.

Interesting that Bellevue is implimenting this change, considering that a new regional dispatch agency is being created in Zone-1. The new agency will be called NORCOM and will essentially be what Valleycom is to Zone-3, although the agencies in the new NORCOM will have equal representation in the new agency.

Currently in the Valleycom configuration, the owner cities (Kent, Auburn, Tukwila, Renton, Federal Way) direct Valleycom's actions. Everybody else (the contract agencies) have no direct vote on issues, rather can only attempt to influence the owner cities. There has never really been any major issues between the owner cities and contract cities/agencies, but it is unequitable.

At any rate you can check out information about NORCOM at the following link: http://www.ci.kirkland.wa.us/depart/CMO/NORCOM.htm

What is the locution dispatch and signalling system? Are other dispatch centers in the area looking at the same?
Thank you
