I did the Vol. thing there for 13 years. It never really had been two different departments in the first place. The station was in the city, and took on the duty in the county area. |

We can add City of The Dalles and Wasco Rural merged to form Mid Columbia Fire and Rescue. Here in Klickitat County there haven't been any mergers but all the districts and cities run a lot of mutual aid with adjoining departments. All are dispathed on 154.130. The county has 3 tac chanells on 154.070, 154.335 and 154.400. |

http://www.tri-cityherald.com/tch/local ... 4720c.html "We're only separate and different because we can be, not because we have to be," said Bob Gear, chief of Benton County Fire District 1 in rural Kennewick. Gear said consolidating fire departments is a trend across Washington and the United States. "When I left King County in 1984, there were 57 fire departments," he said. "Today there are about 20. Every year the number is going down." |
